Capt. John Naymik

Capt. Naymik is a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Air Medal. On July 20, 1944, Capt. Naymik flew as flight leader of a formation attacking the railroad bridge in Ostiglia, Italy. Up the approach to the target, intense anti-aircraft fire enveloped teh formation destroying the lead plane and forcing the lead flight to disperse. Displaying great courage and resourcefulness in the face of this heavy barrage, Capt. Naymik maintained perfect control of his flight and directed a precision run over the objective, thereby enabling his bombardiers to register direct hits heavily damaging the bridge and thereby blocking a vital link in the enemy communication link.
