| Lt Colonel Wood flew 205 Pacific Combat Missions. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters and had three Presidential Unit Citations. He also flew the Endicott Special - a P-39 bought with money raised by pupils from Endicott High School.
