Sgt. John L Chiarella

He served as a Tech Sgt in the 9th Air Force and was a tail gunner in the B-26 Marauder which struck the initial blow on D-Day. He had held the record for flying over 75 missions during WWII. He was awarded the Silver Star, The DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS, The Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, The Air Medal with three Oak leaf clusters, The Good Conduct Medal, The American Theater of Operations, and The European Theater of Operations
