Captured on Pearl Harbor Day, 1941, as a North China Marine,Cpl. Terence S. Kirk spent all 1355 days of the war as a Japanese Slave Laborer. Though ravaged by starvation abuse and disease, Kirk risked his life to build a simple camera, take a handful of photos, and hide them till the end of the war. These are the only picutres ever taken by a POW in camp in Mainland Japan. His camp near Kokura was slated to be the primary target for the 2nd atomic bomb, but a change in wind direction, moved the Fat Man to Nagasaki.
Kirk retired from the Corps, and worked for the FAA as an instructor.

He died May 10, 2006. Final Duty station: Pearly Gates, 1st Angel Battalion.
