Sgt. Edward S. SewardYou are to be commended for your courageous actions on the night of 22 November 1944 when during an attack of a Japanese bomber, you, without thought of self, left your place of shelter in order to aid others. Anti-aircraft fire at this time was intense but despite this danger you assisted in clearing wreckage, searching for wounded, administered first aid and removing the injured to safety. Your calmness, judgement and unhesitating actions are extremely praiseworthy. A veteran of the Northern Solomons and Bismark Archipelago campaigns where the "fightin' 13th" battled Jap airpower and drove them from the skies. He was killed on the Island of Leyte,Phillapines when an aircraft missed the runway and hit the medic shack where he was working on October 15, 1945. Bronze Star recipient. |
